What is the Community Solutions Program?
The goal of this program is to extend invitations to individuals with strong leadership qualities, who come from various parts of the world, to tackle a wide range of complex challenges within their communities. These challenges encompass economic, environmental, political, and social issues, all with the overarching aim of fostering more equitable, sustainable, and peaceful communities in over 100 countries worldwide.
Financial Benefits
The Community Solutions Program receives sponsorship from the U.S. Department of State, with funding generously supplied by the U.S. Government. The program’s implementation is supported by IREX.
It Covers:
- Support for J-1 Visas
- Round-trip travel from participants’ hometown to the U.S.
- A monthly allowance that includes coverage for:
- Housing
- Meals
- Other daily living expenses while in the U.S.
- Health coverage for accidents and sickness
- Accessibility accommodations, including ADA-accessible rooms for in-person training, software like JAWS, and community assistance and training.

Who can Apply for the US Community Solutions Program?
To qualify for the Community Solutions Program, applicants need to meet the following criteria:
1. Age Requirement: Your age should fall between 26 and 39 as of January 1, 2024.
2. Citizenship: You must be a citizen of one of the countries listed above.
3. Residency and Employment: You should be currently residing and working in your home country.
4. Community Development Experience: You need to have a minimum of two years of experience in community development, whether it’s as a full-time or part-time employee or volunteer.
5. Not a U.S. Citizen: Applicants must not hold citizenship in the United States.
6. English Language Proficiency: If selected as a semi-finalist or finalist, you’ll need to take and pass or provide recent scores for a Duolingo, TOEFL, or IELTS English language test.
