Exciting news of the year! The applications for the SUSI 2024 USA Summer Exchange Program are now open. This is a fully funded summer exchange opportunity in the United States, available for both males and females. Participants will have the chance to spend five to six weeks at a U.S. university. Interestingly, I am a SUSI 2017 Alumnus myself.
The program covers all the essentials, including your airfare, meals, stipend, accommodation, guided tours, health insurance, and visa fees.
The SUSI Student Leaders program will be held at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, while the SUSI – Madeleine K. Albright Young Women Leaders program will be hosted by the University of Kansas. Females have the option to apply for both programs, whereas male applicants can apply exclusively for the SUSI Student Leaders program at the University of Massachusetts. SUSI Program Description
SUSI, which stands for Study of the U.S. Institutes, is a program focused on Leadership and Public Policy. It welcomes university and college students from diverse backgrounds and fields of study to express their interest.
During the program, participants engage in discussions and exploration of public policy and democracy in the United States, comparing U.S. policies with those of their own countries.
There are two program tracks available:
1. Student Leaders – Comparative Public Policymaking (open to both male and female applicants) – Hosted at the University of Massachusetts.
2. Madeleine K. Albright Young Women Leaders – Public Policy (available exclusively for female applicants) – Hosted at the University of Kansas.
Tips for Selection
- CGPA: A high CGPA is not a strict requirement for this program, and there is no need for IELTS.
- Personal Statement: Your personal statement should demonstrate a clear connection between your background and the SUSI program.
For instance, if you come from a Computer Engineering background, like myself, you can highlight how your program and SUSI align and how you plan to use this experience to drive positive change in your community.
Your selection is not solely based on academic achievements but also on factors such as your personal statement, leadership skills, volunteer activities, and interview performance.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible:
1. You should have a good command of the English language.
2. You need to have a genuine interest in the field of public policymaking.
3. Your age should fall between 18 and 25 years.
4. You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
5. Students in their first, second, and third years of college or university are welcome to apply.
6. You should have at least one semester remaining in your undergraduate studies before returning to your home country.
7. It’s worth noting that you are not required to provide language test results as part of the application process.
